14A – Halfway Reflection
1) Tenaciousness is a competency. What are the behaviors that you have used (or developed) to keep up with the requirements of this course?
When I approach any semester I make sure to plan as such as I can. I'm always trying to work on my time management skills and I've discovered some resources the help me out with balancing everything going on in my life. The two resources I used the most for making sure I meet the requirements for my courses are Google calendar and an app called My Study Life. I use Google calendar for scheduling bigger events or appointments to make sure I don't forget anything. I use My Study Life to keep track of all my assignments, quizzes, projects, and exams for my courses.
2) Tenaciousness is also about attitude. Talk about a moment or two when you felt like "giving up." What pulled you through? Do you feel like you've developed a tenacious attitude during the past two months? What experience or experiences most contributed to this?
For me, I focus on remembering that success isn't linear and I can't expect everything to go my way. I feel like I've always been quite tenacious in my personal and academic life; however, going through the assignments in our coursework has shown me how I can use that in an entrepreneurial sense. I would say brainstorming for a product idea for this course mostly contributed to this.
3) Three tips. What are three tips you would offer next semester's student about (1) fostering the skills that support tenacity and (2) developing the 'tenacious mindset'?
- Set a realistic and efficient schedule that you can be accountable for.
- Make sure you listen to what your fellow classmates are suggesting in your peer reviews.
- Pick an idea that you are genuinely interested in, not just what's easiest or most convenient for you.

Hello Isabella,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading your reflection blog post, I especially liked how listed such helpful tips for this class that do reflect the process of success for this course. It was great how you mentioned brainstorming to be an important part of tenacity for this course, and I completely relate to that as well. Lastly, I am very interested in this app you mentioned, My Study Life, and I will definitely be using it in the future to plan out my course work. Great post!
Hey Isabella,
ReplyDeleteOnce again, great post. I resonated with a lot of what you mentioned, but especially the part about planning before a semester. Planning is a crucial aspect because it helps me manage my time so I cam stay on top of things, as well as making sure i have enough time to do everything I need. As far as tools for planning, I personally do not find online planners and calenders useful for me because knowing myself, i would just forget to check them and stay on top of them.
Hey Isabella,
ReplyDeleteI really like the picture that you chose, so uplifting! I agree with a lot of things that you mentioned. Using a calendar is so helpful, especially with this class. I like to use the canvas calendar so I can visualize when everything is due. Your last tip, I think is so important. An idea that you are interested in is vital. If you're not interested in it, it could make the assignments painful.
