Solving The Problem
The opportunity that I would pursue is a product that would solve the problem of getting wet shoes and clothes from hand washing dishes while working at a restaurant. Going through trays and trays of dishes can result in water splashing just about everywhere. Through my research, I’ve found that most establishments have plastic aprons that cover uniforms while doing dishes. However, the issue with these aprons is that the water that falls on them eventually makes its way down to the bottom of the apron and then drips onto one’s shoes. My solution to this problem would be an improved apron and shoe covers for extra protection. I think that making the aprons and shoe covers out of neoprene would be a promising place to start with since it is a waterproof material. A plastic lining on the inside of the apron may be a beneficial addition as well. All the straps on the aprons will be adjustable to provide the most comfort for whoever is wearing it. The shoe covers will have a grip on the bottom of them and zipper closures at the top. I think producing the aprons and shoe covers in basic sizes of a small, medium, large, and extra-large would keep costs down for the product. Making sure that these products are affordable is important because my target customers are most likely going to be smaller local restaurant establishments who may not have a huge budget. Hopefully, this product will help in eliminating the discomfort of working in wet clothes and shoes caused by cleaning dishes at work.
Hi Isabella! I enjoyed reading your blog post for this assignment. It was well-written and allowed me to understand your solution to the problem you outlined. I especially liked when you mentioned how making sure your product is affordable is important to you. When I completed my assignment 7A, I noticed that cost was a significant factor in implementing my solution of dog waste stations. Overall, I think you have an excellent product, and I look forward to seeing how you develop this idea throughout this class! Excellent post!
ReplyDeleteHi Isabella, I like your idea and your dedication to improving worker conditions in such necessary jobs. In this situation I think it is important to consider cost of production and that is an important factor to buyers who might have less regard for employee comfort over price. All in all, your product idea is unique and helpful.
ReplyDeleteHey Isabella,
ReplyDeleteGreat post once again! I can see that you clearly thought this idea through, and i also really like the simplicity of keeping the sizes quick and generic. I think this is a great product for workers in the restaurant industry. For a product like this, I think it is essential to keep the price as affordable as possible so that establishments will be willing to pay for it. Employee comfort is not really a main priority in certain establishments like this, but if the price is affordable and it keep employees dry and content, this could definitely work.
